What to expect
Automatic faces
Faces looking at or to the side of the camera are detected and hidden when you press the button.
Draw your own
Add boxes for number plates, ID cards, screens or any face it might miss.
Heavy blur
Each area is pixelated and blurred, as a light blur can sometimes be reversed.
When to blur
- Children's faces in photos you post publicly.
- Number plates and house numbers.
- Addresses, ID cards and bank details in a picture.
Check it before you post
- Zoom in and look for small faces in the background.
- Look at reflections in windows, mirrors and glasses.
- Check for other details Name badges, uniforms and street signs.
- If something was missed, go back and draw a box over it.
Why the blur is so heavy
A light blur can sometimes be partly undone by software, so each area is first reduced to a few blocks and then blurred. This destroys the detail, rather than just softening it. Your original stays on your device, so don't share that copy. For documents, use Redact PDF.
